Meet Our Farming Team

Our staff has over 38 years of experience developing and perfecting bivalve hatchery protocols for numerous species.

Thomas M. McCrudden

Scientist
Mr. McCrudden has demonstrated the ability to produce and grow a new commercial species (Sunray Venus Clam, Macrocallista nimbosa) which was unable to be done on a commercial scale by any other company or university. Also has experience working with other undeveloped species which have shown potential for commercialization development. Produced a "hybrid" clam which has demonstrated faster growth and better survival rates than other clam seed available within the industry. Over 8 years of experience with spawning oyster stocks for various entities requiring various seed stocks from different regions to be produced simultaneously for genetic research and restoration purposes. Was able to spawn and grow 7 separate families up to 10 mm size at the same time so growth and survival rates could be compared side by side. Owner of the oldest bi-valve hatchery in Florida providing bi-valve seed to farmers for 22 years. Member of the Florida Bivalve Industry Task Force which addresses industry issues and concerns. The FBITF meets along with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Aquaculture to address and solve issues relating to the industry.
